Costa Rica Coral Restoration was a recipient of a SOMOS Foundation Catalyst Grant in 2019. SOMOS means ‘We Are’ in Spanish. As an umbrella organization for many kinds of community and environmental development, ‘We Are’ is a way to reflect the SOMOS commitment to building resilience and sustainability for each and every person, place and project involved.
Their catalyst grants have helped in the past non profits focusing on social, environmental, and security issues. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic our project was delayed and we decided to donate the grant money to SOMOS´s disaster relief aid instead. As of May of 2020 the SOMOS´s disaster relief fund has fed close to 400 families affected by the pandemic.
